Data Engineer

Remote U.S. (Eastern and Central Time Zones Preferred)


Department: Core Development

This position may be performed from one of the following U.S. states: AL, FL, GA, IN, KS, MA, MI, MS, NC, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark and Python.
• Develop ELT processes to extract, load, and transform data from various sources into the data lakehouse.
• Data Quality Assurance:
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of incoming data.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, resolving them in a timely manner.
• Performance Optimization:
  • Fine-tune Spark jobs and data processing workflows for optimal performance and resource utilization.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance pipeline efficiency.
• Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with business users and engineers to understand data requirements and assist in the integration of data
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements to create and improve data pipelines based on user needs.

Position Proficiencies and Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Engineer with a focus on Spark and Python.
• Strong programming skills in Python and expertise in working with Spark (PySpark).
• Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) is a plus.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing requirements.
