Scrum Master

We are currently seeking an exceptional Scrum Master to join our Engineering department in the Agile Operations team.

This individual will provide servant leadership and mentorship to multiple Scrum and/or Kanban teams through effective application of Agile principles. This Scrum Master will partner with Product Management, Software Development and QA to achieve business objectives. This role will provide project visibility through weekly status reporting and applicable Agile metrics. This Scrum Master role will also provide support to teams who are fairly new to Agile through coaching and training, as needed. Concepts that may require support of the Scrum Master include relative sizing, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, establishing and implementing WIP limits, and how to have effective retrospectives that promote continuous improvement. This role will also be responsible for identifying and remediating inefficiencies in the team’s daily workflow to improve team throughput.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uphold and evangelize Agile values and principles to deliver business objectives.

  • Organize and facilitate team ceremonies: Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Retrospectives

  • Work with the team(s)’ Product Owners and team members to define sprint objectives prior to each sprint planning session.

  • Proactively identify project and team risks and take necessary actions.

  • Provide unbiased, honest view into project/team health.

  • Act as liaison between the team and others, minimizing interruptions and keeping the team focused on delivering a quality product.

  • Facilitate collaboration efforts across multiple time zones, including Estonia, India, Bolivia, and the US.  This leads to an untraditional, yet flexible work schedule.

  • Identify, understand, and track impediments; help remove them and drive improvements to optimize how the team works.

  • Protect the team from complacency, guiding them to seek to improve continuously and to know that there is always more left to learn.

  • Use Confluence to organize team artifacts.

  • Use Slack to support open and effective communication channels.

Position Proficiencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.

  • Scrum Master and/or Product Owner Certifications preferred.

  • 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.

  • Must be proficient with English and Estonian languages (conversational level)

  • Must have a firm grasp of Agile practices and mentor development teams effectively.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Confluence, Jira, and Slack

  • Ability to leverage and interpret Agile metrics and take appropriate action.

  • Know how to leverage online collaboration tools to facilitate working/brainstorming sessions with team members in different locations.

  • Ability to use Jira for team’s day-to-day activities, as well as in support of facilitating team ceremonies

  • Skilled in facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

  • Adaptable and flexible during change and growth.
