Reporting directly to the CTO you will have insight into business objectives and will be relied upon to prioritize technical engineering objectives and workstreams to meet those business objectives. 

As VP, Software Engineering, you will bring experience building a SaaS product, crafting and communicating internal engineering processes, and leading leaders while promoting collaboration, customer focus, and strong culture of accountability.  You will be a great leader, team builder, recruiter, communicator, and issue resolver.   You will partner with the Raintree leadership team to ensure appropriate people and talent are in place to support the execution of the development pipeline with quality.  This position will be expected to strike the right balance between timely delivery and future direction.  This position will ensure that roles, responsibilities, performance measures, and processes are established and clearly communicated.  You will foster and support a culture of innovation and excellence within the development team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team and establish best practice engineering standards and processes. This person will create a culture of quality
  • Champion new ideas and capabilities needed to drive business growth and platform innovation
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of the product
  • Motivate development staff and provide technical direction, guidance, and leadership
  • Recognized as both a manager and support resource/mentor
  • Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the development department
  • Assure that the department achieves its objectives and project completion within budget and time frame

Position Proficiencies and Requirements

  • 10+ years of commercial software development experience with open source technologies 
  • 8+  years in software development leadership roles
  • BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years experience developing SaaS cloud based applications
  • Experience modernizing older architectures and applications

Competencies to Drive Success

  • Understanding of modern architectures, including MicroServices, Typescript, React, and AWS
  • Building Application & Architectural Roadmaps
  • Experience with HIPAA, OWASP, and Security frameworks/controls (NIST/CIS)
