Remote U.S. (designated states)
This position is fully remote and may be performed from one of the following U.S. states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, IN, KS, MA, MI, MS, NC, NV, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX. (Candidates outside of these states will not be considered)
The Product Owner is responsible for the collaboration with technical teams such as Architecture, Development, Dev Ops, and Implementation Services to determine and prioritize the design, approach, and execution of product development initiatives.
This role requires extremely good communication, is technical in understanding, and detailed in execution. The Product Owner is responsible for delivering the products to market by owning and driving the product backlog, while liaising with the Product Manager(s), development leads and other team(s) to ensure the timely delivery of features and releases. This role will ensure the products are created following agreed architectural design, agreed development standards, and efficient, repeatable, and scalable design approaches. The Product Owner is the internal (primarily development and services) facing side of Product delivery and will work closely with the Product Manager(s) who are the external (market and customer) facing side of Product delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert on the sub-domain design and function of the product
- Analyze product requests, in terms of value, usability, viability and feasibility and create product requirements based on input from all stakeholders
- Work with Product Manager to review product roadmaps and determine the most efficient and value-producing approach to the design and timing of product releases
- Create and manage a detailed and prioritized Product Backlog including User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the products and internal systems, which aligns with Product Strategy and Market Requirements
- Ensure all Epics and Stories are logged and tracked and have clear definition, test criteria, definition of “done” and any associated wireframes and artifacts
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure the backlog is regularly refined
- Work with Product Managers to ensure all customer, market, and internal requests are understood & prioritized
- Review existing design and functions for gaps in service, quality and functionality
- Implement, communicate, support, and nurture a superior level of subject matter knowledge throughout all relevant areas of the organization
- Support the training and understanding of the products for internal stakeholders
- Collaborate on the planning and execution of the release process to ensure a relevant, communicated, documented, trained, and supported product release.
- Responsible for delivering the product through the software development lifecycle process via small, frequent releases
- Manage clear communication of priority, goals and milestones of all product initiatives to internal stakeholders
- Liaise with Product Manager(s) regarding suggestions for new product features and enhancements
- Able to understand, interpret, document, and communicate a consistent product definition.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve timely and successful fulfillment of business & client commitments with regards to development, product fixes and release
- Work with functional leads and documentation / content group to ensure all product content is accurate, comprehensive, and up to date for all audiences
- Participate in user groups and conferences as needed
- Participate in all agile ceremonies
Position Proficiencies and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or similar in Business, Information Technology or related fields from an accredited college or university
- 5 years of Product Owner experience (preferred), Product Management, Project Management or subject matter expertise in similar products or similar/parallel industries
- At least three years of establishing priorities and achieving results through cross-functional teams
- Healthcare background preferred
- Experience in project planning, analysis and implementation strongly desired
- Good verbal and written communicator both vertically and horizontally
- Use of Dev tracking software (e.g. JIRA)
- Navigation within the software and the various environments
